Question: On Off Volume Knob

bwoodbury1

Interested in knowing how to order the volume control pin that the knob sits on
WJA
Reply: On Off Volume Knob

Hello bwoodbury1,

The pin that the 007760011120 on/off volume knob attaches to is an internal part of the Radio/Scanner that the manufacture does not supply.

Question: Battery

calvot

What kind of life can I expect out of this battery
Tinkerdave
Reply: Battery

Tinkerdave

Hi calvot,
Generally speaking most batteries last between 2-4 years. This is an average.I've seen some die in a year and others last 5 to 6 years. Because batteries are chemical products the need special care. This is what Dewalt says about the care of their Lion batteries:

We recommend charging batteries between 40 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit . Attempting to charge batteries outside this range can result in a permanent loss of run time.

When batteries are being charged and discharged a chemical reaction is taking place, and if it is too hot or cold the chemical reaction is disturbed causing a loss of run time.

Once a battery is "warmed up" (i.e. the internal cells are in the recommended operating zone) the battery should perform regardless of the outside temperature. Once they are outside of the zone, you will see decreased performance.

We recommend when using the battery in cold climates to put the battery on charge first or do a couple quick applications to get it warmed up. For optimum performance, do not store batteries in areas where the temperature drops below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Hope that helps.Good luck.

Hello pams,

Even though the part is labeled BZ082511842. It is an internal part of the radio, and unfortunately the manufacture does not sell any internal parts for this unit. You might try contacting Ridgid and see what they can do for you.

Good luck,

Hello Shawn,

Since the manufacture does not supply the part you are looking for. You might try contacting a few Ridgid service centers in your area to see if one of them might have a radio that was not repaired or in there scap.

Good luck,

Question: Help!!!

Mike

My radio gets power bc it will consistently charge iPod; however if I turn the power button on the actual radio whether it be aux or am/fm, it won't stay on. The radio doesn't lose power just won't stay on

Hi Mike,

The problem you described seemed to be a pretty common issue with the Ridgid R8408 Radios. In fact I have that same model next to my desk right now and my radio does the same thing. The problem is internal and Ridgid does not offer any of the internal parts for the radio. I am pretty certain that Ridgid replaced this model with a newer one. Most likely due to this issue. If it is out of warranty your best bet is to replace the radio.

Good luck!

The on/off button broke but from inside, the button is ok, so what part do I need to order?
Mark
Reply: Ridgid Radio

Mark

Hi Rosa, I'm not certain of which part you are looking for. As you can see on the parts diagram, none of the internal electrical parts are available for this radio/charger. The knob which attaches to the on/off switch is available. It is part #007760011120K and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com. Good luck! -Mark

Order the on/off, Volume control module.
Open the top of the radio and unplug the ribbon cable plug from the Display deck
Remount the module in the proper hole
plug in the new module.
the on/off is a click switch (momentary)
the volume control is a stepping pulse switch.

the shaft on mine also broke off internally. it is made of white metal, very cheap

Lots of luck getting the part///

I was having the same problem, but guess what I find the problem this is an internal problem; you have to change a little fuse that came inside of the radio, but for this you have to open the radio. It's no big deal, just take your manual and do how explain to take apart. this little fuse cost me only 3 dlls for 5 fuses, plus shipping. I found it on ebay, just looking for t630ma 250v. this have to be 20 mm long and 5 mm wide. good look a do this by myself and cost me only 8 dlls to fixed :-0 and 30 min to be done jeje
