Magazine pusher was not advancing nails properly

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    1-2 hours

    Tools Used

Pliers, Wrench Set, Allen wrench set - several sizes are required

    1. Removed the magazine from the gun (simple task)
    2. Removed the broken plastic pieces of the pusher bearings from the magazine
    3. Attempted to figure out how to extract the pusher from the magazine
    4. Reviewed the schematic of the gun which clearly shows 2 bearings but one article I read says only 1 is required - ordered 2
    5. Determined that the pusher had to come out of the magazine from the hammer end of the magazine.
    5. Determined that the spring must be detached before the pusher can be removed. was concerned that the spring had a set tension that would be difficult to re-set but that fear was not a concern as there was no tension on the spring at the position of removal.
    6. Upon removal of the pusher, discovered that there are 2 additional pusher bearings on the rear of the pusher as well as the 2 on the front. It would be helpful if the schematic accurately reflected the front and back bearings and/or the parts list indicated that 4 are required for a rebuild.
    7. Reassembled

Keep in mind there are two pusher bearings in the Porter Cable nailer and you should order both at the same time instead of doing what I did.....assumed it was the pusher bearing that broke, ordered one, took the nailer apart, discovered I needed two, ordered another pusher bearing, replaced them broken parts, reassembled.
