Question: Primer Bulb Hose Routing

grizzlyalan

When changing the primer bulb do I connect the suction port to the carb. or to the fuel tank?

The word "Primer" is misleading. It actually purges the carburetor. If you are talking about a snap in primer bulb, the little nipple (suction) is connected to the outlet of the carb and the longer nipple goes back into the tank. What the primer does is actually pull the air out of the carb which is replaced by the fuel coming into the carb from the tank. The return does not have a filter on it. The line in does.

The line that goes to the pick-up assembly inside the gas tank is deteriorated and splits when you put the assembly inside it. What is the procedure to replace the gas line?

Hello 1191353,

To replace the fuel line going into the tank, make sure you get the right fuel line first. Then cut the end of the line on sharp angle and push it through the hole in the tank, if you have a pair of hemostats or a long pair of needle nose pliers, grab the end of the line inside the tank and pull it through the fuel fill hole. Cut if of straight and attach the pick up assembly to it. Leaving enough line for the pick to lay flush inside the tank. After that you should be able to attach the fuel lines where they are supposed to go. One note you might as well replace the pick up while your there.

Hope this helps,
-WJA

There are two gas lines listed on the parts list. One is carb/purge, and the other is tank/purge. I assume it is the tank purge that I need? Also, do you have to remove the gas tank to make this repair?

Hello Luthersmith,

It would be a rather tight working area without removing the tank. Although it may be little more work to remove the tank, it will make it easier to accomplish it.

Question: Throttle

langsk

I took most everything apart, cleaned it up, and replaced the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Now it will start, but dies when I try to give it the gas to use it. Does this sound like maybe it needs a new carb?

Hello langsk,

Before you spend the money on a new carburetor. Try cleaning the carb. We have prepared an article and video to answer any questions you may have. Here is link to it.

How do you replace the pull cord on a PPB300? I have the drive shaft removed from the engine, but can't figure out how to remove the outside cowling.
