Question: Poulaqn Chain Saw, Bar Oil Leak

zipporah74

I have a Poulan chain saw, Model # PP4620AVX. The bar oil leaks out when the saw is not in use. How can I fix this?

Hello zipporah74,

I have had a few chainsaws in my time and I asked one of guys that I work with (he has a landscaping business on the side). And he has had a number of chainsaws through the years. An all of mine have leaked and all of his have leaked chain bar oil. I think it's just the nature of the beast. I store mine with a thick rag underneath it and change it ever so often. You can two things to slow it down though. Make sure that the Oil Cap Seal is in good shape. And do not open the Oil Cap after running it. It creates a vacuum in the oil chamber and will slow the leaking.

Question: Isolator Crankcase

sonbarb64

Hi , can anyone tell me where the isolator crankcase part #34 for a Poulan pp4620avx go. It was laying in the crankcase when I removed the air filter and carb for cleaning and I can't see where it goes.

It sits in the air filter housing with nipple part facing the air filter...there is even a small black plastic piece made into the air filter to help cushion this crankcase isolator from tearing through the air filter.

Question: Carbeurator/Hi-Low Adjustments

wroyals55

The Walbro hi-low adj. requires a tool other than a screwdriver. The view is obstructed by a boot or limiter? What does the Hi-Low adj. do? My Walbro has a new kit but it won't idle and rev's real high. The choke is required to start even when it's hot.

Question: Chain Sharpening Tools

angelo3936

what are the part no. or name of thos items. How do you order them?

The chain sharpening is a round file size 5/32 inch and remove the chain from the chain saw and place it to the vise and it tighten and holds the chain then add in the handle to the file and file it out then repeat to the next sharp bit by loose the vise and move the chain and tighten it. To order it - call the hardware and it is necessary to purchase both the vise and round file as my recommendation from MSI in Atlanta and I estimate the cost will be around $50.00 dollars including shipping.

Question: Screw Plus Adjuster?

ggipper

Does the screw part 545060401 also come with the metal adjuster that tightens-up the chain to the bar. My screw is intact but the adjuster /metal part that rests upon the screw has broken. Your picture shows the right part but has no adjuster in the picture.

Question: Poulan Pro 46cc. Chainsaw

kendog

on your diagram witch way do you place #29 ?
WJA
Reply: Poulan Pro 46cc. Chainsaw

WJA

Not having serviced that model chain saw before, looking at the diagram, it looks as if there is a round side on the intake boot which would mount to the crankcase the other side looks like it is oblong which would mount to the carb. adapter.
Hope this helps,
WJA

Question: Poulan Pro Parts

skimsurf

I just got a poulan pro pp4620avx with a 20 inch bar. I got it for a steal from ebay, it runs great, but kept throwing the chain. It has this "toolless tensioner", which, in my experience is crap. It is a plastic wheel that lets you put tension on the chain, instead of using the old bolts, and screw driver. I have used everything from a husky, to a jonesred, and this is the biggest pain in the butt I have ever dealt with. Reviews online say the plastic wheel will strip within a short period of time. I am looking to go backwards, and replace this with the standard 2 bolts and screw tensioner. Where would I go to do this? I have stihl dealers around that can get whatever, but I am not sure if I should go straight to a poulan dealer, or if I can find something online. Help me out.

The PP4620avx can be tighten with just one bolt and the bolt has its flip up as to turn it loose and point the chain bar down and pull it down with the hand then tighten the bolt is all that works.Ignore the tensioner screw since it is always go bad.

This thread was also started a few years ago! But, calling the manufacturer is never bad advice.
