Question: Ignition Module Hook Up

Arcie

Hi all,
I have a poulan 1950 chain saw and I was replacing the fuel lines and the yellow wire from the ignition module came undone. I looked all over to see where it would get hooked up but can't locate any place. The black wire (ground is in tact) but the yellow wire is hooked up at the module but hanging free up near the carburetor area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Bob

Question: Fuel Pick Up

how do you install fuel pick up

Reply: Fuel Pick Up

Nett1982

You can take the fuel line that it goes to and take one of your fingers and grab the line, pull it through the top of the fuel cap, take the old one and pull it off, you might want to take a flat head screw driver and just easily pry it loose and then push the new one back onto the fuel line.:)

I need to replace the piece with the teeth on it. How hard is it to remove?

Question: Chain Freezes On Bar

bob

The chain on my 1950 Wood Shark Poulan freezes when I start the chainsaw. I think the cover (bar clamp) is somehow binding it up but I'm not sure.

Question: Poulan 1950 Fuel Lines

Rene

How are the fuel lines connected to the gas tank and carburetor?

how do lines connect?

Reply: Poulan 1950 Fuel Lines

UtahAV

Hi John and Rene,

The fuel system on your chainsaw has a filtered inlet that goes to the input tube of the carburetor. The other hose on the carb is the priming hose. It runs from the carb outlet to the input, or suction side, of the primer bulb. The last line runs from the output side of the primer bulb back to the fuel tank. It is the return line.

When you prime your saw the primer pulls filtered fuel into the carb, to the primer bulb and then returns excess back to the tank. To find the suction side of the primer bulb, attach a piece of fuel line to one side of the primer. Now put the line in a small container of fuel. If you see bubbles when you press the bulb, the hose is hooked to the outlet side of the primer. If it sucks fuel into the bulb then you have found the suction side.

Identifying the input and output side of a carb that has a remote priming assembly can be very difficult and there is no rule that applies in every case. Usually you just need to use trial and error on those connections. If you have hooked everything up so you are pulling fuel through the carb, not pushing it into the carb, and your saw won't fire, you should just need to swap the lines on the carb and then it should run fine. The important thing is that you have the priming lines setup to pull fuel through the carb.

I hope this helps!

Question: Assy Drum

Richard Cloyd

How do you replace the assy drum on Poulan model 1950?

Question: Fuel Line Diagram

Don

How is the fuel line routed?

Question: Poulan Wood Shark.

captdon7

1. On the Poulan Model 1950 Wood Shark chain saw, can someone instruct me how the fuel line connections are made up between the gas tank, the 2 carburetor connections (inlet and outlet connections), and the return fuel lines? I don't understand why it will run just fine for a few minutes and then quit; and then will not start no matter how many times I try to restart it.

2. On the same chain saw, what is the proper gap between the rotor and the stator to create the spark for the spark plug?

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Best of Regards,
