Discussion for the Porter Cable FR350 TYPE 3 Round Head Framing Nailer
My nailer just quit working. Air comes out the exhaust, and trigger is slack. Took head off and there is a clear rubber cup shaped part that is tore. It looks to need replacing but not sure what the part name is. Any answers? Thanks.
Hi ddot,
That is called the upper head valve bumper. While you have it apart replace the top seal on the cylinder and all the top head valve o-rings.Whats happening is the head valve is getting cocked when it moves up and down in the head.Replacing those should fix your problem.Hope that helps.Good luck.Tinker

the white/clear piece 901901 is a piston stop after made of teflon which gets brittle and disintegrates.
The bumper 886157 is made of black rubber or neoprene.
ereplacementparts.com just has the wording wrong. Picture and part # do match.
Have you ever sold one of these? Probably not. If you're wondering why, it is because for $17 more you can buy an entire new gun with case. Feel free to contact me if this price turns out to be a typo or if you are able to bring it back from orbit. Thanks.
The price for the 901270 is correct believe it or not. And we actually have sold a few of them to customers. The nose-piece for the Porter Cable FR350MAG Sells for 135.00. Don't ask me why the cost is so high. And the nail guns are a high quality and trouble free unit.
What's the deal? This gasket is no longer available? Should I make my own ?
My gun has a of lot miles on it but still works ok, except for some leaky gaskets.
Unfortunately the manufacture has discontinued the gasket for that and several other models, without a part number to replace it. It looks as if you will have to locate some similar gasket material and make you own.
The safety tip on the type 3 gun is different from the type 1. Because of that change the rubber tip for the type 3 will not fit the type 1. There is an kit available that will upgrade your type 1 gun to the type 3 tip. The kit also includes a new rubber tip. The kit is part #893801. You can find the part and order it by clicking here..
When I shoot a nail the piston does not return causing air to leak through the gun. I have to unhook the air to get the piston to return so you can shoot another nail. What can I do to fix this problem?
I had the same problem 2 weeks ago...I ordered an overhaul maintenance kit. When I disassembled the gun I found the Piston Bumper figure 107 on the parts breakdown had disintegrated. I ordered a new one today 6-6-11(it is back ordered) and am waiting for this part to ship and arrive to complete the overhaul..
After years of using and repair framing nailers I can tell you that the majority of the time double firing is a byproduct of the gun bouncing up off of the material when it is fired. The gun fires and the recoil pushes the nailer up. When the gun comes back down the trigger is still being depressed and the gun then "bump" fires a second shot. All of this happens in just a fraction of a second.
It is easy to determine whether the problem is being cause by the gun recoiling or if it is a problem with the components of the gun. Simply use the gun as normal but take extra care to make sure that the gun is held firmly to the material. Even use your other hand to apply pressure to the top of the gun. If the problem seems to go away with the extra downward force you will know that the gun was just recoiling. If the problem persists then you may have an issue with the gun, probably a damaged safety mechanism, magazine or improper or poor quality nails.
I have plenty pressure but when I press the trigger and press
the nailer against the wood it acts like it is going to shoot out a nail but nothing happens. The response seams slower. Can it be fixed and how?
Gun does not fire - leaks air when gun depressed and pull trigger (similar to WES 10/25/09).
Recently purchased FR350 T2 Overhaul Maintenance Kit. Replaced all O-rings in main body. Unable to replace Valve Body per instructions. (No visible pin B in hole D per instruction picture. Instead valve body cover has 5/16ths nut, but does not move.)
I dropped my gun from about 3-4 feet onto concrete and now it won't fire. I have inspected it for damaged or broken parts and can't seem to find any. When I depress it to fire and pull the trigger I get a little air leak from the trigger area but nothing happens.
Fr 350 was leaking air through exhaust. removed exhaust cover found white plastic shatttered into hundreds of pieces does anyone know which piece this is on the parts diagram so I can repair? it might be 122 the bumper not sure cause it is fragmented into so many pieces.
thanks
Jim, Yes that is the bumper, part # 107. I just replaced mine and found out I also had other problems. The plunger #209 is stuck down and it still would not work. I took that apart (need 8mm wrench for # 211) and found that the o-rings #210 were hardened and needed to be replaced. Of course I now have to order them.
Make sure to look the internals over and order all the parts you need the first time, it is better to replace all the 0-rings in the valve to ensure it won't leak.
If you pull back on the pusher and let go there should be pressure. If there is no pressure, like you said, then your spring has broken inside. It is part number 421 on the diagram.
Used the nailer on a fence job and the nailer would fire one or two nails normally then rapid fire 10-12 like a machine gun...fast enough that the compressor couldn't keep up. sounded like an old Gatling gun...any ideas?
The Overhaul Maintenance Kit should solve the air leak issue as well as give the gun a general tune up. It is part #60074 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
My framing nailer jammed up and shot 2 nails through the bottom of the magazine. The nails were extremely jammed. I finally got them unjammed but now the gun will not shoot nails and it seems to have very little pressure when trying to shoot a nail??? Any suggestions!
You will need to open the gun up and do a bit of inspection. Likely the driver was damaged by the jammed nails. There could have been damage done to the cylinder and possibly the bumper and some of the o-rings. All of the replacement parts are available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
Hi, my fr350 framer continually leaks air through the exhaust at first it was just the exhaust port cover got loose, then after awhile it just would not stop. What part do I need?
