Question: Porter Cable

933000

I have a Porter Cable Generator 5250 Watt, BS1525-W. My dogs ate the wires now I don't know what to do with the one red wire and te two black wires coming out of the engine switch. Anyone have any suggestions?

Problem starting Porter Cable 5250, BSI525-W, Type 2
Switched spark plug, used starting fluid, acts like it wants to start and then just shuts down. Thinking of changing oil since that is the only thing left I can think of. Oil level sensor may be causing a problem?? Oil level appeared normal prior to starting but now the oil has taken on a liquidy muddy appearance.
Anyone have this problem with this generator before?

Magneto flywheel surfaces probably need cleaning. Emory cloth works best.Clean until surface is bright, You will have to pull recoil starter housing off to get to flywheel and magneto.Thickness of emory cloth is ok for flywheel/magneto gap. 4 bolts hold cover and 2 hold magneto. difficult to get cover from behind fuel bowl but it will come off without removing bowl.not a difficult job, takes about 20/30 minutes, and should give you a good clean spark and easy starting for 2 or 3 years.

Question: Generator

jwholli

model# BS525-W one circuit is pulsating while the other is steady. what is likely to be wrong? please identify parts needed if possible.

Question: On And Off Switch

john walker

how does it wire up? what does the red and black wire hock to?

Question: Engine Lock Up

jack sutton

I pulled the recoil starter rope about 6 times. The engine did not fire. On the next pull, the engine would not turn. I played with it for a while, just jiggling it back and forth. Then it just would not move at all. It is beyond my expertise, but I would like to separate the engine from the generator to make it easier to transport to a mechanic. I also can't locate the model, type, or code; I found a 13 digit no. but don't know what it represents.

Thanks

Question: No Electric Out Receptacle

Mike B

The engine running great, but I do not get electricity to the receptacle. What should I check?

Question: No Gen!

Chuck

What is probable cause of a total loss of generator output voltage?

Reply: No Gen!

clifton

generator runs fine.
but no electrical output
what could the problem be?

thanks

Question: Power Regulation

Glenn

I use my generator to run my 230v 10gpm well pump. When I plug the pump in, voltage drops from 230 to 93 and amperage goes up to 14-15 when spec should be 230 v and 11.4 amps. I suspect the capacitor in the rear of the generator case that has the red leads connected to it. The markings are not visible so I would like to know if I am correct and what the capacitor value is.

Question: What Kind Of Oil Do I Use

Mary

What type and grade of oil do I use? I purchased this used but it had never been run and does not have oil in it.

Question: No Power Output

Wayne

The engine runs fine but I have no power at the receptacles. The breakers are not tripped and I have performed the re-excitement procedure. Any ideas on what to check next?

Question: On-Off Gas Valve

Marilyn

BS1515-W-2 The on-off gas valve leaked and a local store told me I also would have to replace the rubber piece which is inserted into the base of the gas tank when I replaced the valve. I did this, but a year later the rubber piece which is inserted into the base of the gas tank just popped out. I need to replace it again but cannot find the part or the part number. Can you help me? Thank you.

Question: Oil Type

Joe Grace

What kind of oil do you put into the generator? Dip stick indicates low - what kind of oil do I replace it with?

Question:

Engine runs, but generator does not work. What can i do?

the generator works, but the design is bad. the gas tank has a heat shield that does not have a rubber spacer, and wore a hole in the gas tank. a replacement is 97 dollars. there was a recall but it only covered a certain date of manufacture.
