Discussion for the Porter Cable BN200A Brad Nailer
We have a Porter Cable Brad Nailer model BN200 that is in good condition and maintained well. During operation the Driver does not return to the top, preventing the magazine from feeding? Is a seal bad? Thanks for any help. Mike
My BN200 drives nail good but the hammer does not come way up. It only comes up about 1/2". I can slide it up with my finger easily. I use plenty of oil. There are no nicks on the driver. The o-ring on the plunger is good.
The driver not returning is most likely cased by a bad check seal. The seal acts like a valve letting air out of the cylinder. I would recommend installing an Overhaul Maintenance kit. It will replace the check seal plus all of the other seals and rings that typically fail. The kit is part #60079 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
I've had my nailgun for over 8 years now and suddenly it wouldn't fire a nail. It's a BN200A finishing nailgun. I have cleaned it and checked the chamber and saw nothing that seems bad or worn out. I've lost count on how many times I have disassembled this unit and still have the same result. Am I missing something here?
The driver will not retract back into head of gun to allow nail to advance far enough for driver to engage nail head, what is the correct way to repair or replace driver mechanism?
The driver for your gun is discontinued and no longer available from the manufacture. They used to offer a driver maintenance kit which included the driver, the bumper and the lower seal. The kit was part #60011. You may try a couple of your local tool stores. I don't believe that this kit has been discontinued for very long. I hope you are able to find one of these kits as the BN200 was a very good gun.
I installed a drive maintenance kit in my BN200A brad nailer. It fired twice the stopped. I leaks out through the trigger, at least that what it sound like. it will not fire at all. What could cause this.
It sounds like the trigger valve is either broken or full of dirt or other debris. The trigger valve is available as an assembly which is part #895212. The trigger valave assembly is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
Hi Magoo, One of three things can cause the driver not to return. 1. the driver is bent and is causing too much resistance as it moves through the nose. After you shoot a brad and release the trigger low pressure ( air escaping out the exhaust) sucks the piston driver assembly up.2. Look closely at the nose guide(This is what the brad travels through as it enters the nose chamber.See if a piece of brad is lodged in it.3 Your bumper is starting to break up and parts of it are getting stuck between the piston and cylinder.Did you take the top cap off and remove the piston driver assembly?Hope that helps.
Brad nail driver assembly will not retract most times. Have disassembled, inspected and lubricated many times, same problem. Can you suggest O Ring(s) most likely to cause this problem?
Does the "service kit" include these parts?
thanks

My BN200 was doing the same thing. The seal, ref #104, in the cap that the spring, ref # 105, goes against deteriorates and causes the piston, ref # 107 to not work properly. Replace the seal and it should fix the problem.

My BN200V12 just broke on me. The compressor hums and hums but does not shut off and none of the lights light up- no green, no red. Nada. Anybody have a clue as to what the problem might be?
In trying to buy parts for my Porter Cable BN200 brad nailer, I find that parts are not available. Can I get maintenance parts for this now, or should I just chuck the thing?
Hi! Most of the parts for your Porter-Cable BN200 are still available, although a few parts are now obsolete. A parts diagram and parts list is available here:
The driver maintenance kit is not available anymore, but that's about the only significant part that is obsolete. I hope this helps!

Hi there,
You might not be completely out of luck with the maintenance kit. There is a person on eBay that sells generic brand o-ring kits for a BN200 and several other tools. I have used him for an old obsolete Bostitch framing nailer, ( N16 I believe it was ), that I couldn't get parts for and the o-rings worked just fine. You can give him a shot if you want. link removed PARTS repair KIT-PORTER CABLE BN125,BN200,NS100 - eBay (item 110434137818 end time Nov-11-09 10:41:15 PST) I hope this may help.
