Discussion for the Porter Cable 7529 TYPE 1 Plunge Router
I'm sure I'm not the only one with a bad chuck on a 7529 PC router--is there some source of supply? Do I throw away a good router for such a simple part?
Hi Whigley,
I show sears parts has one in stock at link removed that helps.Good luck.

Hello whigley,
The collet chuck for the the 7529 types 1 and 2 is no longer available, part number 886708. But make sure you check your type because the chuck for the type 3 is still available. It is part number 903053.
Good luck,

I had the switch problems and a stripped chuck as well, I was able to work out the switch probldem by disassembing and tinkering but it was temporary at best. Now with the obsolete chuck, past taking it to a machine shop and getting them to weld the threads and recut them, I'm outta luck--I replaced it with a Makita router and it is great, cuts out 3 inch raised panels in oak without a whine unlike the PC 7529. The 7529 is officially retired and out to pasture. Thanks for the advisement Tinkerdave but I didn't see the part on Sears.
My Porter Cable 7529 VS plunge router quit in the middle of the run. I recall in very early on there was a switch problem and I managed to fix it but can't remember how other than there were no parts involved. Any suggestions? Is it worth repairing and weren't there service repairs issues on that model? I see it is discontinued. Thanks
I have read several articles about this model router having issues with the variable speed control. I believe the issues was resolved with the type 2, however the damage had been done and the model was discontinued. You might try replacing the variable speed control or buy a new router.
