Question: Porter Cable Model 332 Type 2

Richard

My sander stopped working under load. It only works upside down and you need to bang it to get it started. A repair person said it might be the bearings and brushes, as well as possibly the armature. It would have cost too much for him to do a complete diagnosis. Does anybody have any ideas? They don't manufacture this sander anymore and it's the best sander I've used, though it's 15 years old.

Question: Sanding Pad

Cookie

I have a Model #332 PC. What type pad is it supposed to have?

Reply: Sanding Pad

WJA

Hello Cookie,

Originally the Porter Cable 332 came with a 13900 Pad it is used for adhesive backed 5" sand paper with no holes. If you would like to use hook & loop (velcro) sander paper you will want to get the 13904 Pad. Though it has the five vacuum holes, it will work just fine with the 332 sander.

Hope this helps,
-WJA

Question: Switch

Joe Ortiz

My sander fell off of my workbench to the floor. I had just used it and it was working just fine. I took it apart, it didn't seem like there was problem inside. Could the switch be broken internally? All of the outlets work fine. I plug it in and nothing. I did just change bearings about a month ago.

Question: Sander Pad

I have a sander which uses the stick on sander pads. Can this be converted to hook and loop?

How do you replace the main drive belt? Part #903373.

Question: Fixed Pulley

Bruce Foat

On a Type 2 Orbital sander model 332, is the fixed pulley supposed to rotate on it mounting screw? My fixed pulley seems to be tight and not rotating?
I have had this unit for many years and it has served me well. It is far and away the best sander ever built. If you want to remove material this the one to have. It is much better than the newer one's. I have finally had to replace the pad, but short of that, it just keeps going. if you have a type 1, don't let it go.
I've had my sander since 2000 and use it almost daily and I never had to repair it till now replacing the worn out sanding
pad. Best sander ever !!
