Does anyone know how to remove the chuck from a Porter Cable 1002 type 3 router?
It's been a while since I've done this, but as I remember you need to remove the 695427 motor housing. To do this you will need to remove item number 211, part number 876110 screws. Then remove the brushes from the motor. You will need to tap on the housing with a rubber or soft mallet to remove it from the bottom half of the housing, it's usually on there tight. Once you have the top motor housing off, you will need to some how hold the armature, while you unthread the 800879 chuck from it. We use a sleeve that is slotted that fits around the armature and we able to clamp it in a vise. Be very careful not to damage the armature stack or commutator. Once you have it removed just reverse all you have done and you should be good to go.
router will not disassemble after removing the 2 lower screws in the bottom. is this because the lower bearing is stuck. (the brushes have been removed)
Question: Disassemble PC 7518
How do you get the lower assembly housing off of the upper part to replace it? How do get the collect nut disconnected from the armature of the fan?
Reply: Disassemble PC 7518
Remove the upper motor housing from the lower motor housing via the 2 screws from the lower motor housing, slip the two halves apart, to remove the collet, simply take a impact gun with the correct sized socket, hang onto the end of the armature with a leather glove and unscrew the collet from the armature with the impact.

The 2 screws are located at the bottom of the router..[make sure you remove the brush's first]..once the screws are removed you should be able to separate the two parts and have access to the cord..you may also have to remove the field to get it out of the way..[if this is something you are not comfortable with this may be one for the repair shop..]:)
Hope this helps..
