My 20-year old 6507 worked fine one day and the next, nothing. I suspect either the switch, the brushes, or the cord. What is the best way to troubleshoot?
The Sawzall will come on sometimes if you hold it straight down but hardly ever and never will stay on when you bring it up Horizontally. I think maybe the switch?
I would suspect the cord or the switch. With any of the Milwaukee quik-loc cord tools I would look very closely at the connection between the cord and the saw. This cord system has always been a weak link on the Milwaukee tools. The coupling on the cord is the most common part that fails but the connector on the tool side will sometimes go bad too. If the cord and wiring checks out OK then I would agree that the switch is the culprit.
The cord is part #48-76-4008, the connector is part #14-46-0155 and the switch is part #23-66-1491. All of these parts are available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
Good luck with your repair!

Blade holder Question by Mark
On my 6507 ser #631B I have a quick release for my saw blade. I'm looking for the part number to replace my broke piece.
Have an old Milwaukee 6507 Sawzall sn0063161605 that runs only one speed. Looks like someone previously has been inside the switch and speed control parts and thus my question.
There is a GE SC143D triac mounted on right side armature area using the tab of the device as hookup from the brush. The remaining two small leads go to the switch circuit.
There is no LO/HI slide switch or provisions for it in the handle.
What do I need to do in order to get the variable speed working?
Parts required with correct numbers? I've not seen this GE triac shown on any parts breakdowns yet.
This Sawzall must be an oldie but it has a lot of life left and I would truly like to get the variable speed working as it should...
