Discussion for the Makita MAC2400 2.5HP 1720RPM Air Compressor
My Makita 2400 runs but no air is produced in tank and it looks like a light smoke coming from the motor. Also motor sounds a bit weaker, just started happening it worked great yesterday and today this. Any ideas???
It sounds like your compressor may be having a couple of issues. When a compressor runs but does not build pressure it is caused by wear to the cylinder and piston. The smoke would be produced by the motor overheating. The smoke is caused by the epoxy insulation used on the motor burning.
The cylinder is part #201017E, the piston ring kit is part #RK2400E and the motor is part #251332E. All of these parts are available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
