I'll answer my own question. All of the pulling by hand wasn't able to dislodge the armature. I reinstalled the outer armature bearing, supported the edges of the housing in an opened vise to clear the fan, and used a short slide hammer on the outer bearing. One tap popped the armature with inner bearing out. The inner bearing looked like it had been without lubrication for along time, and likely the reason for the metallic noise the saw was making. Haven't figured out if the inner bearing was glued in, or that rubber pin was part of the problem. Will get a closer look when the new parts arrive.
