Hello 1302972,

We had a customer that was also looking for the Makita 163247-8 Punch Plate. He ordered the Metabo 343392820 Hole Punch. He said that other than being made of plastic, it worked perfect.

Question: MODEL # B04550; FOOT

MAKITAPARTS

Question, the lever/clamp does not hold the sandpaper. Will a new foot solve this problem. If so which part number do I need?

Thanks

Hi ,
Replace 15,16,21,22, and while you have it apart you might want to replace 13.These are all parts that have high stress loads and to do a clean repair they should all be replaced.Hope that helps.Good luck.

Question: Plate Andpad

1136156

I HAVE AN OLDER MODEL BO4550 SANDER MY BOTTOM PLATE IS METTAL WITH A RUBBER PAD. CAN I GET THE SAME PLATE WITH RUBBER BOTTOM.I DO NOT CARE FOR THE FELT PAD.I DONT THINK IT WILL LAST AS LONG.IF NOT WILL THE HOOK AND LOOP WORK.

Hello 1136156,

There is a sponge rubber pad still available. It is part number 423142-7 it has a sticky back which you remove the paper to adhere it to your pad assembly. If you need a pad assembly. You'll need to order either 151427-8 or the 151404-0. And remove the felt pad or the hook and loop pad. I think you will have much better luck just using the hook & loop pad assembly.

Question: BO4556

243351

Hello, My BO4550 will no longer hold paper and the new clamp system on the BO4556 looks like a good option for me. Will it work?
Thanks, Jim.

Hello Jim,

I am sorry to say that the paper holder systems are designed quite a bit bit differently. And you cannot interchange the system from one to the other. The best thing to do is just replace the parts you need to repair the clamp system on your BO4550.

Hope this helps,

Question: Makita B04550 Sheet Sander

rcsec

The "Punch Plate" for this sander (Makita B04550) is no longer available; pokes holes in sand paper so the dust is better collected in bag. Is there a substitute available from another model? In all the diagrams I've looked at I couldn't find an alternate part number (163247-8) so I'm wondering if there is much difference in the Makita line. For instance I have a B04550 but the punch plate is still available for a B04556 - I'm wondering if this will work?

If not, is it that hard to make one, and what is a good "spike" to poke holes in the sandpaper?

Thanks,
Ray

Hello rcsec,

It looks like to me that the punch plate for the Makita BO4556 would work for your BO4550. You might have to do a little modifying to it. It's just a guess on my part though.

Good luck,
-WJA
Hi. I have an older model 4550. I notice that I can buy either the backing pad with felt or 22b. What is the 22b? Also - is this an exact replica since I purchased another that was supposed to be compatible but it did not hold the sandpaper. Thanks

The item number 22-A, part number 151427-8 felt pad. I'm pretty sure was on the original BO4550. The item number 22-B, part number 151404-0 is a pad that accepts hook and loop paper, so you don,t have to use the paper clamps as you would with the felt pad. Since the manufacture no longer makes the BO4550. I would have to know the model number you purchased to answer the second part of your question.

Hello cccjimmaui,

I have yet to see an adapter to fit that style of connection in any of the accessories that Makita offers. Or any other manufacture that I can think of.

Question: B04550 Case

I can not get the case open to put on a new cord. I have removed the 4 screws, but can't get the case to budge. Seems to be bound up toward the bottom. Something that I am missing here? Thanks.

Question: Replacement Rubber Pad

I have a Makita Model #B04550, with clamps on the side. The rubber pad is worn out. Can you give me the P/N to order a new pad? Is P/N 151427-8 the replacement and will it work on my model?
Regards,

The part you mention in your inquiry is listed for the B04550, but is specified as being a "felt" base. Mine also has a rubber base and is worn out. I really do not want felt because I prefer using the adhesive backed sand-paper. They do not list a rubber pad for my model. I have the question as to what is available to allow use of the adhesive paper.

Question: 4550 Sander Pad

Joe Hicks

My Makita sander is model 4550 and the pad is worn out. It looks like rubber to me, not felt, and it uses the self-adhesive sandpaper, not clamps. What replacement pad do I need? (What is Hook & Loop?)

I have a 4530 that uses the 6in adhesive pad (#7430321) or the 5in adhesive pad (7430313). They are both rubber pads that accept adhesive paper. There are 4 mount holes in these pads. The distance between the mount holes are ....2 1/16 in. on center one way and 2 11/16 on center the other way. Hope this helps. Now you can help me by confirming the mount hole centers on your 4550. I can no longer buy the 4530 and I am looking for a replacement sander that accepts adhesive discs. Adhesive discs are cheap, however the hook and loop are very expensive.
