My Makita drill, 6011D, slips like its lowest setting is in high speed only. I'm able to shift between gears OK and it seems to work OK in low speed. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I have a 6001D 12 volt Makita cordless drill. All at once it does not run , tried several batteries. the drill has worked great and has modest amount of use. what is the problem? Is the switch bad? I need to know more before ordering a switch as they are about $60.00 Is there a site about how to get the chuck off in order to take the drill apart. Is ther a test to determine the problem.. I like the drill as it is light in weight. JNO...

I tryed to take off the change ring and now I can't get off or back on. It was working ok, but tryed to remove to correct an electric problem. After removing screws is it suppost to pull off? I think the cam plate is out of position.
I just purchased a Makita 6011D at a garage sale that would 'slip' like it was on the lowest setting and also would not change speed. Thanks to your forum I was able to remove the chuck and found the shifter was broken. I temporarily fixed it and everything else appears to work. My first question is - is there anything else I should check and/or repair while I have it opened up? My second question is what is the best method for storing the batteries that will enhance their life and ideally have some level of charge for a quick job - keep them on the charger all of the time? or charge just when you need it? or?????
