Question: Trouble Starting

jcrocket

Chainsaw doesn't appear to be drawing fuel. Starts, then stalls immediately. Have to pump air purge over and over.

Question: No Fuel To Carb

660790

Chainsaw starts but cuts out quickly. Doesn't seem to be drawing fuel. I have to pump the air purge over and over again. Where might the problem be?

Reply: No Fuel To Carb

Hello 660790 You may have a dried out fuel pump diaphragm in the carb. Try installing a gasket and diaphragm kit, or go with the rebuild kit on it after cleaning. If it is an older saw, the rebuild kit would be better.
If old, stale fuel was left in it recently, it could be causing the needle valve (fuel inlet) to be stuck closed, and therefore no fuel getting past it into the carburetor. I suggest removing the carburetor and cleaning and inspecting it first.
