I have a DW938 T2 cordless Sawzall, it will no longer run at full speed. It will run about half speed, and once in awhile after a good bump, it may run at full speed. Is this a switch or brushes problem?
I would suspect the switch. The switch contains the circuitry for the variable speed control. The switch is part #152274-19 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
Good luck with your repair!

dx938 type 3 Question by Ray
I've probably over-used the integrity of this saw and now their seems to be a stripped gear or internal mechanism that needs to be replaced. I now have to pull the blade/shaft full out to cut but when the blade/shaft is retracted it just grinds, I haven't torn it apart it yet but would like to hear your remarks on this. Thanks Ray
I just broke part # 383883-00 Fig#16 in the above diagram in my DW938 type3 saws all. It had the same symptoms as you describe with yours. So far rather easy to get apart just pay attention to how you took it apart. should be fixable.
Find out what part broke and what the price is for it and decide if its worth it to order the part or just replace the whole tool.
As of now on mine the part is 35 dollars so I'm going to debate whether or not to fit the part or replace the tool.

reciprocating saw Question by Tony
What causes a reciprocating saw to lose power? I tried several batteries.
Lose of power is usually caused by damage to the armature. I would check that first. Part #429906-01 available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com Good luck! -Mark
Review by Al Nolte
It's been great until the blade lock finally gave out, probably pulled to hard by my son. A few parts and its like new again.
My buddy dropped off his dw938 type 2 reciprocating saw because the quick release had fallen off and he lost the pieces. I ordered the pieces from you but I couldn't figure out how they went together (not having seen it together) until I noticed that he had broken off one of the arms on the shaft. :( I took the transmission off but can't figure out how to get the shaft off of the reciprocator.... do you have to take off the nut on the drive shaft to get the motor end out???? How do you hold it without breaking something? And lastly do you have a picture of the blade holding assembly together? I might be able to figure it out once I get the shaft. Thanks in advance for your help....
