Question: Dw566kc

hughie mccrum

My drill just stopped working the other day. There is power going to the drill but nothing happening. The windings are OK. It's like the trigger is just dead.

Question: Dewalt

t10bender

I have a Dewalt DW566 Type 1 Rotary Hammer. While drilling a hole and pulling it back, the nose came off, complete with the washers and spring. Trying to replace it back, it won't seat right and the bit won't stay in. Is there a trick to this? Or do I need a new reataining washer?

Question: Dewalt DW566 Type 3

Denboy

Hi
New to this type of forum. I have DW566 type 3 drill which packed up on me. I replaced the worn out bushes and the drill now works but there is a lot of intense sparking and burning smell from around the bushes which I think caused the first lot of bushes to go. I presume the fault could be the armature or the field coil. Would this be a fair assumption and if so any educated guesses as to which one to try replacing first. Thanks in anticipation.

Hey denboy,
Sometimes it takes a while for the brushes to seat in properly..you may try to run it in drill mode only.. for a few minutes..also look closely at the commutator [where the brush's make contact] and check for anything that sticks out like a sore thumb..a groove or a worn spot..you may need to replace the armature..if the field looks black and is brittle to the touch..its shot also..!
hope this is helpful..

Question: DeWalt 566K

Culifrance

There is some spark near the brush and have sound of " Pop Pop" when I use it, is it the problem of motor or the capacitor?
Is it danger for me to continute to use without repair?

Reply: DeWalt 566K

cmoorejack

Hey Culifrance,
The sparking and pop pop noise could be from worn out brushs or an open in the commutator on the armature..the brushs might not be making good contact due dirt or dust build up..check for any damage on the commutator on the armature..if anything looks out of place..burn marks or separation between bars..your armature is bad..
hope this is helpful..
