Question: Different Chucks

Joe Bento

I need to replace my chuck on myv dcd970 type hammer drill. I ordered the proper chuck from parts list. I received the chuck. It did not have a set screw. Please explain.

Reply: Different Chucks

WJA

Hi Joe,

Hammer drills are seldom used in reverse. When using a hammer drill, the constant hammering and torque tighten the chuck on the spindle tight enough that a chuck screw is not necessary.

Question: Remove Chuck

kevin

Can someone tell how to remove the chuck on this drill?
Hiram Ramos
Question: Battery

Hiram Ramos

When I insert the battery in the drill the battery starts smoking like if it was burning up. It gets hot and the casing melted.

Question: Doesnt Hold Bits

greg

Why can't I take parts 1 and 23 apart to check if something is wrong? It wont hold drill bits and makes a clicking sound every time it moves the bit.
