Question: Dewalt Troubles

My dewalt DC730 1/2" cordless drill has been giving me trouble. When I pull the trigger it runs great but when I let go of the trigger the head keeps turning. Its like the clutch or the transmission is out. Can you help me and let me know which part to replace??

when I use my drill it starts smoking out the vents. What could be the cause? It is a 14v cordless DeWalt.

Hi Scott,

It sounds like the motor may have been overloaded and has now shorted out. When too much load is put on the motor it heats up greatly. The insulation on the wires in the motor will melt and cause the motor to short out. The smoke if from the insulation burning off of the wires. You will likely need to replace the motor. The motor is part #640548-01 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com .

dewalt mod. DC730 when used it runs good but when i let off the trigger the head does not stop it keeps on rollin! i need to know what to replace to fix the problem,if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
