Discussion for the DeWALT D55154 Type 1 Compressor
Hello WJA, you response was directly on point and 100% correct! When I removed the oil reservoir and opened the case I immediatly spotted a broken connecting rod. I have since removed the piston and broken rod. My questions: the crank shaft has a whiteish material, does it require "dressing" with steel wool or cleanup? Is there some sort of teflon washer or slip on bearing that comes with the new rod? Is there an easy way to reinstall the rod and piston? Do you know the tool stud that fits to remove the two bolts that hold the cylinder to the casing? Thank You so much for your expertise and kindness in helping me (babysitting me) with this project! Werner (wmoore)
The elect motor runs but the piston does not move or produce air pressure at the head or to any of the lines. The motor can run continuously without any air pressure.
It sounds like you are going to have to breakdown the pump assembly. If the piston is not moving you may a problem with the 5140016-86 crankshaft or the 5130088-00 connecting rod. Tearing down the pump I'm sure you will see what the problem is.
The compressor was not used for a couple months, stored in an unheated space, will not build up pressure now, the cold start valve was sticking on, and off. When the valve did close, the compressor still did not buildup pressure past 45 psi. Any suggestions?
The air pressure regulator assembly (which is contained in the manifold) has a special brass screw in it that goes through the tension spring, and fits into the knob that you turn to control air pressure. I just need the special screw. Mine is stripped. However, I only see a complete manifold for $180.00. The diagram does not even show the assembly, just the whole manifold. Can you email me a more complete parts diagram, or do I have to junk this thing? For $180.00 I can buy a new compressor.
The parts shown on the diagrams are all of the parts that DeWalt offers for this compressor. Unfortunately they only offer the manifold as a compete assembly.
