Discussion for the DeWALT D55151 Type 1 Compressor
My Type 1 will not start when there is pressure in the tank. If the tank is empty it starts right up, fills the tank and then shuts off. When it tries to restart it starts turning, then stops, hums and then trips the breaker. Could this be a bad cold start valve? Any other suggestions?
The Type Number is used by the manufacture to indicate that a change was made to the tool in manufacturing. The Type Number will be listed on the same tag as the model and serial number information. If no type number is listed then you are usually safe to assume that your tool is the earliest Type number, usually either Type 0 or Type 1.
I hope that this helps with ordering the correct parts for your repair!
Hi Bill,
I have the same model and same problem. The motor and air pump turn freely but the motor hums. It seems to labor and doesn't turn then the circuit blows. I am wondering if the condenser went bad. There are no brushes in this motor...
It sounds like your pressure switch has gone out and will need to be replaced. It is part #5130028-01 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
It sounds like your cylinder and piston are worn out. They will need to be replaced. The cylinder is part #5134778-00 and the piston assembly is part #5130102-00. Both parts are available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.
