Question: DeWalt Grinders

1241727

I have several DeWalt grinders and all of them have stop working. My question- is there any way that I can determine why the grinders stop working. There was no smoke or sparks all of them just stop working.

I would start by checking the condition of the brushes, as you can usually do this visually. Even if they are just a little worn I would consider replacing them. Watch the video on how to test the switch & cord, although I have not been able to get any of the videos to play for me this morning.

Question: Amateur & Field

I recently replaced the armateur and field on my D28402 grinder and upon reassembly I'm getting a loud winding or rubbing link removed figure out where it's coming from.Any help?

Hi,
That could be a couple of things.First make sure that the rubber boot is on the end of the armature bearing. This boot is a dampener and if you leave it off it will allow the armature to spin slightly off the center of its axis causing the armature to rub on the field.Check that the armature fan is not rubbing on the baffle. If I remember right some of the baffles can be installed 180 degree's the wrong way as this would allow the fan to rub on the baffle. And lastly check all your switch wiring and make sure it tuck into the clam shell canals as not to rub on the armature.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Hello macmac,

The spindle lock assembly is part of the 623586-00SV Gear Case Assembly. The manufacture does not sell individual parts for the spindle lock. Make sure of you model number and type, there are a couple of different gearcase assemblies depending on the correct model and type.

Question: Dewalt Angle Grinder Dead

susswein

I have 2 dewalt angle grinders that won't start (models D28110 and D28402). One of them is totally dead, the other will occasionally start for a split second, then die.

Any suggestions on what to look for when I open them up, besides checking the switch for continuity? Can you tell through visual inspection if the brushes are bad?

If I'm not getting any power at all what all could it be?

First always check your cord to make sure you are getting power to your switch. If you are then check out your switch with your tester and make sure it is functioning. Always check for any wire that might have come loose, and also your brushes, if you have one that is completely gone you might just need a set of brushes, hope this will help someone!

Question: Shaft Lock

I have a 4-1/2" dewalt angle grinder that the shaft locking button slips. Can I replace the button and the internal locking mechanism?

Review: DeWALT - D28402 D28402

I have used and have worked on many brands of small grinders and in my opinion this one is as good as any I have used and better than most. They rarely need much other than a set of brushes once in a while. With proper care will last a long time and do a lot of work!
