Question: Bad Fuel Tanks
I have this Generator and this is the fourth time I have replaced this fuel tank because of leaking were it was right at the seem; was there a call back on the tanks or what? I have only used this about 3 times except for running it for about 15 minutes every 6 months. I think for the safety of buying this product they need to come up with a better idea. this could be a major fire hazard to my house or any one around. I'm afraid to start it because it may explode. This was purchased on 10/10/98 and still like brand new, but I can't run it.
Question: No Voltage Out Put
I left my generator running and came back to hear lots of rattling. I shut it down and found that the (4) bolts and nuts that hold the generator housing together had rattled loose. I replaced them tightly and started it up. It sounded and ran fine but produced no electricity. I checked the wires, etc. but found nothing. Why?
Reply: No Voltage Out Put
I too own a GB5000 and the engine runs fine but no voltage output. I have a friend coming over Sat. who works on generators and hopefully he can help me figure this out, if so I will come back and post the results.
Question: No Output From Generator
I have a GB5000 generator that was running fine and then the voltage just slowly died. I cannot find any problem. I checked the diode, replaced the capacitor, and checked for opens and shorts.
Reply: No Output From Generator
The motor runs fine; just no voltage output. Sorry, I have the same problem.
What spark plug do I use and what is the gap setting, also, what oil do I use?
Most manufactures of larger outdoor power equipment, such as lawnmowers, snowblowers, walk behind edgers, etc., build only the machine and then out source the engine to a manufacture of small engines. They rely on the manufacture of the engine to supply engine parts and warranty service through their network of service centers and dealers. To find parts for the engine on your machine you will need to know the brand, model and type number of the engine itself. This information will usually be located on a tag right on the engine. Some manufactures will stamp the information right into the castings.
Here at ereplacementparts.com we currently offer parts for Briggs & Stratton and Kawasaki engines. The links on the left side of this page will assist you in locating parts for these engines.
As for the engine oil, any automotive type 10W30 oil will work great.
I hope this helps with your small engine repair!
Question: Devilbiss Generator Fuel Pump
I have an old Devilbiss model GB5000-2 that was missing the fuel pump. I have ordered a replacement, but it did not come with instructions. Does anyone know where it is mounted and which hose goes to what port on the pump? Photos would be great!
Reply: Devilbiss Generator Fuel Pump
Mounted on the motor right behind the carburetor.
Top hose is the vac.
Middle hose is the carburetor.
Bottom hose is the tank
Question: TO Much Voltage
My older gb5kw-2 DeVilbiss generator is putting out to much Voltage.
110 side=160V, 220=300V what can I check to fix this or is it OK the way it is?
Reply: TO Much Voltage
Check to see if the engine throttle is stuck or was bumped. If it was bumped, adjust the engine rpm down until the output voltage is below 132V on the 120V circuit or 264V on the 240V side.
