Can I get a complete fence assembly that will work on a 34-670 10" table saw and if so what is the part number.

Hello gobbles51,

Delta manufactured two different styles of fences for the 34-670 table saw. The first one had square rails and the complete fence assembly for that one was part number 1313268. The second generation of the 34-670 saw used round rails. The complete fence assembly for that saw was part number 1342673. Unfortunately both of these have been discontinued by the manufacture. You might try searching on line to see if any exist out there.

Good luck,

Hello 1128123,

Unfortunately the manufacture does not give us the sizes of all the screws that they provide. If we had one in stock I would provide that information for you. I did check stock at the factory. It said they have them in stock with limited supplies.

Reply: Delta 34-670 Belt Install

WJA

Hello 1087685,

You are correct, the drive belt is an extremely tight fit. You will need to start belt on the top and bottom edges of the pulleys and then slowly turn both pulleys while applying pressure on the belt to get it on the shafts. It will be a little difficult but take your time. and can be done.

Good luck,

Hello wormgetter,

According to the information I could muster up. The new motor part number, 906297 is gear driven now rather then the belt driven original motor which was part number 1313314.

Hope this helps,

Hello Norm,

It doesn't show it on any of the parts diagrams that I can find. But I know when the 34-670 first came out it had square rails for the fence instead of the round style it uses now, and I think that was the only difference.

Hope that helps,

Question: Table Saw Repair

joe alvarez

Hello;
I have a 10" delta table saw that stopped spinning. It would make a high pitching and grinding noise when I would turn it on. I would see smoke and smell burning plastic at the end. Currently the blade spins but stops spinning when I try to make a cut. I went through the diagrams of the parts and I believe it is the drive belt. My question is, where can I get a manual that will help me take it apart or would it be best for me to take it to get repaired by a professional?
WJA
Reply: Table Saw Repair

WJA

Hello Joe,

It is not that hard to replace the drive belt on this saw. You will want to remove the pulley cover by taking out the four screws holding it to the motor. Then you will be able to see where the drive belt is positioned. There are 2 pulleys that the belt rides on. Work the belt on the pulleys. It will be tight, make sure the cogs on the belt line up with grooves on the pulleys.

Hope this helps,
WJA

Hello Tom,

The 34-670 has a drive belt on the right side of the motor to turn the blade. Here is a link to the schematic of the motor to see where it is located, 34-670 schematic. The belt could be broken or the cogs are worn off not allowing the blade to to turn. Here is a link to the belt part number,34-670 drive belt.

Hi Zach

Unfortunately the complete fence that you are looking for has been discontinued by the manufacture the part number was Delta #1313268. You can try a search for that and see if you can locate one. Also you might look at the Delta 36-T30 fence and see if that will fit your saw it is a good fence system without the high cost.

Hi Warren,

It looks like the guard assembly is still available for that saw, here is a link to the part number, 34-670 guard assembly. If you need additional parts to mount the guard here is a link to the schematic on the saw, Delta 34-670 schematic.

Hi Joe,

The knob you are looking for is available. here is a link to the part number,Crank inner knob.

I have replaced the brushes and it didn't solve my problem. When I turn on the saw it seems to spin faster than the blade like a clutch is slipping or something. I see from the schematic a part called the Drive belt could this be slipping?
Any other ideas?

Hi Paul,That motor has a jack shaft that should have a threaded pulley and shaft. My under standing is that there is no adjustment for belt tension so the belt should be tight.Does it feel tight and if not is there lateral play in the shaft that would indicated a bad bearing. Also are you sure that your blade nut is tight. Do you have the type 1 or 2.?

Reply: Delta 34-670 Motor Issue

Hi Tinker,
I took the motor out and opened the back to check the belt. The belt is all worn out. It was almost smooth inside. I ordered one today. I hadn't realized there was a belt in the motor but now it all makes sense. The motor spins but the shaft takes a long time to catch up and had no power.

When you say "chewed up the belt" do you mean that the belt seemed to go on correctly but became damaged after running the saw.Or was the belt damaged when installing it on the pulley?

I got a Delta 34-670 Contractors table saw with all the wiring disconnected. Does anyone have a wiring diagram or is anyone able to describe the wiring setup for these items?

Reply: Delta 34-670 Wiring

Ragman

I have my 34-670 all over the garage at present with a motor problem so can help with wiring reconnect. First off my saw is upsidedown with no base connected and motor removed so looking at the wires from this position the ac cord would be feeding in from the left going thru the housing to the reset sw. first with white on bottom conn. of sw. and black on bottom of on/off sw. Then the motor wires would be white on top of reset sw. and black on top of on/off sw. Both green ground wires go together and screw into frame using the hole below the on/off sw. Your all set! Remember your looking at the opening from the bottom. Reset on left and on/off on right. Your body would be positioned at the front of saw.
Hope this helps!

Question: Delta 10 Inch Table Saw

HENRY IVEY

I have a delta table saw.model 34-670.the motor brushes are sparking a blue ark when in contact with the armature.is this normal.also the brushes are chewed up.replaced the brushes and dressed up the armature, but the brushes are still arking a blue spark.is this normal.
UtahAV
Reply: Delta 10 Inch Table Saw

UtahAV

Hi HENRY IVEY,

The sparking would indicate that the armature itself is damaged. There is a good chance that the field is damaged as well as the two components work together and one going out can damage the other. You will need to take them both to a motor shop and have them tested to confirm which is bad. It looks like from a cost stand point it would be best to simply replace the entire motor. The armature costs almost as much as the motor assembly. The motor assembly is part #906297 and is available from www.ereplacementparts.com.

Let us know how it works out.

I just bought a Delta 34-670 basket case saw. It's in several pieces, but the motor runs strong, doesn't arc, and coasts down smoothly. I'm not sure if I have a Type 1 or a Type 2. How do you tell? The serial number is K9348. Thanks for any info!

The Type Number is used by the manufacture to indicate that a change was made to the tool in manufacturing. The Type Number will be listed on the same tag as the model and serial number information. If no type number is listed then you are usually safe to assume that your tool is the earliest Type number, usually either Type 0 or Type 1.

I hope that this helps with ordering the correct parts for your repair!

Question: Parts For Delta Table Saw

inspector

Looking for the special screws and the spacers that secure the front and rear guide rails to the table and the table extensions for a Delta Table Saw model 34-670. Spacer p/n 1342662 and special screw p/n 1342663. Every supplier I've contacted has told me they are no longer available. Can someone help me?:

NOTE: I did find some metric, internal wrenching cap screws that will work fine. Still looking for the spacers or the specs so that I can fabricate them.

Hey inspector,
You will probably have to fabricate..I don't have any specs for ya but most hardware stores carry different sizes and shapes of spacers..get something close and fab to the size and shape you need..you can grind in the bevel shape if needed..:)

In wonderful fashion, I've decided to try to fix my 21 year old Delta table saw; a couple weeks ago in the middle of a project of rebuilding my fireplace mantel, the motor died. Froze up. All my troubleshooting points to bearings gone bad, particularly on the armature shaft

Particulars:
Model number on the machine is a 34-670; pat number on the motor is 1313314, which now cross-references to a 906297. At about $275.00 per, I'm trying to just replace the bearings. (& brushes & belt while I've got it apart).

So, parts are on order, but in the meantime I need to get the toothed gear/pulley off the shaft, as well as the old bearings. Clearance between the pulley & the housing is too small for a cheap-o gear-puller's fingers.

Anyone got any bright ideas about how to do this? Or (how to find) a local machine shop & maybe how much to offer them to pull it off, and press the new bearings in place?

Thanks, in advance,
Chuk Gleason

Hey Chuk,
Ouch..you do have to be careful on this one..heating the pulley with a small torch as you pry up underneath with two large screwdriver tips may do the trick..[with the snap ring removed..However, most repair shops have special tools and pullers along with magical repair powers for this and may be the best way to go..[you don't want to damage or break the pulley or housing.!] If you do find a local or a fairly close repair shop..the charges should be around $100.00 parts and labor respectively..[your search should include power tool repair or anyone that repairs small electric motors..you can also look for an authorized Dewalt service center as they own Delta/ Porter Cable now..]
if you need parts..they are avail at ereplacementparts.com..:)
hope this is helpful..

Well, authorized Delta/DeWalt repair center is on the other side of town from me, and closes at 5:00PM. I was all prepared to stop in there one day last week, but the service call I was on took much longer than expected.

Yeah, I just have to find a local shop to do the removal & restoring of the bearings, & gear/pulley. I guess in the meantime I can continue staining & finishing my mantel woodwork. Maybe have it done by wife's b-day.

there is a truck repair shop next to where I work; wonder if they could do this for me? hmmm, deep thoughts.....

I had similar problem on a small electric motor. I found a starter/generator repair shop that removed the old parts and pressed in the new ones a reasonable price. Give this a try.

I have the same model saw and I have some parts issues. Maybe you could help?
Look for my posting.

Hi Maytag. Sounds like you might have bearing problems in there. Here's a link to a parts breakdown for the saw:

On page two of the diagram it shows the motor assembly. Have you taken a look at the diagram?

IT looks to me like you will have to pull it off with some bearing pullers. if the shaft has a flat side that will be the case. Looking at the picture of the pulley. it looks to me like there is a flat side. good luck hope this helps. alittle WD 40 and some heat could help.

I have checked the power to the motor. It is all ok. the motor will not run. Is there some type of a thermal switch?

Hey Tom,
There is no thermal overload for the motor itself that I am aware of..aside from the reset on the front panel of your saw..if you are getting power to the motor..the next step would be to check your brush's for wear or obstruction..[sawdust]..
Brush part # is 1313113
hope this helps...:)

Question: Blade With No Power

vunivasa

My husband has a delta 34-670 that is direct drive. He recently let his brother use it and now the motor runs and the blade turns until you go to cut wood. The blade stops and the motor continues to run. Is there a simple answer to this I hope. Hubby is going through sawdust withdrawal.:(

Was this problem ever solved?

I don't have a saw like this, but looking at the parts diagrams, it looks like the only way the motor can run without the blade turning for the blade to be loose.

There is a very short belt in the motor assembly, item #226 on page B of the diagrams. It is a cog belt. If the blade spins until you start to cut I would suspect that the cogs have been worn off. I would suspect that a new belt, part #34-674 would fix the problem.

Let us know what you find.

Hey Broken42,
Chances are the drive belt is stripped...it is a toothed belt and will still turn until you load it down..[the belt is a very tight fit]:)

Question: Delta Saw Model 34-670 Insert

iowatraveler2

Can anybody help me in locating a table saw insert for a dado blade use for this saw? All the parts I have located say it is no longer available. Sure would like to find one that I can make work. Thanks

UtahAV

Hi iowatraveler2,

When Delta was purchased by DeWalt a few years back many of the accessories for the older tool designs, like your saw, where discontinued.

I have seen over the years where several of my customers had made new insert plates out of masonite or even sheet aluminum. You will need to be a bit creative to come up with a clamping system to hold the plate in place.

I think this may be your only hope for a new insert plate for your saw. I have never seen any aftermarket replacements for these saws with the really thin inserts.

I hope this helps!

Hi gewhite,

The belt is part #34-674 and is available from ereplacementparts.com. Here is a link to the belt. Small tool belts such as these are made to spec for the tool. They are very specialized and are usually only available as OEM parts.

I hope this helps with your repair!
