Question: Belt Size
delta 31-050 1" belt sander....how long is the belt? does porter-cable make a replacement part # for the belt? if not, then I can probably find one if I know the length. thank you.

I need the belt size and how to get the belt back on. I took the old belt off. I got a new belt the same size I took it off but I can't get it back on. I even tried to put the old belt back and it won't go. Can you send me a diagram showing how it goes back on? The belt seems to short.
my name is joseph king. what length was the belt you took off your sander??
the belt isn't listed on the parts list and I'm having a problem finding out the length.
would appreciate your help.
click on the 31-050 type 1 and print the parts diagram.
Look for a screw to the right of the back of the belt housing. Loosening this screw loosens the top back wheel and your belt will slide on relatively easily. Use this scres also to tighten the belt and keep it in the center

It was a great sander...too bad not many parts can be gotten now. All tool manufacturers "upgrade" their tool every 4 or 5 yrs. to get you to buy the new ones and then a couple of yrs. later quit making the parts for the old ones so you have to buy a new one. If they didn't, their tools would never wear out and they would go out of business, so it has to work that way. Delta has always made a quality tool!!

I found 1x30 belt in 80 and 120 grit and very inexpensively at Harbor Freight. Search under, simply "sanding belts".
They also have an inexpensive replacement with the Harbor Freight name
