Replacing blades to cutter head of planer
Cutter head will lock in when you take dust collector attachment off. Unscrew the set of screws that hold blade in, taking out the end screws last because they are spring loaded. I used the allen wrench that comes with planer to loosen screws. The blades are guided in by two slotted pegs, once you have new blades in. You can start putting screws back in.
I removed the side panel where the infeed roller connects to the drive chain. There is the outside cover then a smaller cover which goes over the drive chain. Then I raised the the head assembly to its full height. I placed a 4 1/2 inch high 2 inch wide board on the deck. Then I lowered the head assembly till the roller just touched the board. I then loosened the bolts holding the blocks on the ends of the roller. These are allen wrench bolts. After I took the bolts and the plates that the bolts go thru out, I raised the head assembly again slowly. Their are springs above the blocks. So when you raise the head assembly these blocks will be pushed down. Then I removed the roller with the blocks on the ends. You have to catch the springs. You will need to pull the end of the roller toward you that is not in the chain drive. You have to do this in order to remove the roller from the chain drive. Removing the snap ring from the roller is easier if you have snap ring pliers. Then you slide the block off of this end. The other end just slides off. Their is also a gear on the end with the snap ring. Make sure you see which way this gear is on. You need to put it back on the same way. Then slide the blocks and gear back onto the new roller. Put the snap ring back on. Then I put it back in, in the reverse order of the way I took it out. I also greased the chain while I was in their.
