A centrifugal clutch is a part that uses centrifugal force to connect two concentric shafts, with the driving shaft nested inside the driven shaft. Today’s centrifugal clutches will function even when they shouldn’t, far beyond the point of when they need to be replaced. Keeping an eye on equipment performance will determine when the centrifugal clutch requires attention. Please note Clutch Drums is Sold Separately.

Spring broken in the clutch, fuel cap was hard to open,starter pulley had broken.

remove top cover to the spark plug, remove spark plug, put small rope into the cycled, move the clutch till it stop. use a screwdriver an a hammer tap the clutch to loosen it. clean with brake cleaner. let it dry. put back together starter it up. work like NEW.

Teeth on clutch drum worn and chain slipped and came off.

Removed c-clip retaining clutch drum and removed the drum.
Removed clutch assembly (left-hand threads !) by tapping it with the hammer and brass punch.
Removed the large clutch washer and replaced it with the new washer and clutch assembly.
Lubed the clutch drum bearing and installed the drum.
Re-installed the c-clip.
Ready for a new chain and cover.
