This carbon brush assembly is an authentic Ridgid item that is designed for use with spade handle drills. Brushes are important component that helps to conduct current in an electric motor that powers the equipment. Over time brushes will wear away eventually requiring replacement. This assembly includes two plastic brush holders, two carbon brushes and two plastic caps to secure them. You will need a flat-head screwdriver to complete this repair.

Remove the rear handle
Remove the screws from the rear housing, and remove the housing
Remove the brushes from the hosing and remove the leads
Install the new brush assemblies, then reverse how you took it apart.
Remove the motor housing handle cover, remove the plastic cover.
Make a wiring diagram of the switch, and remove the old switch.
Wire up the new switch as per the wiring diagram.
Install the switch parts in reverse order.
