No spark to plug, hood off and tested the coil ( OK), popped the fly wheel to check the points and condenser but nothing but6 small magnets, 4 of which have wire wound around them. The only wire coming from them goes to the battery charger. WHAT send the voltage to the coil?????
James For model number 28N707-1201-E1 - November 6, 2023

Hi James, Thank you for your question. The armature magneto has both a primary and secondary coils inside that generates electrical current to produce a spark. This works with the magnets on the flywheel to produce current to the spark plug. To test a magneto you will need an OHM meter. Insert the red lead inside the spark plug boot, and touch it to the metal plate inside of the boot. Scratch the lead on the plate to ensure it is making good contact. Next, touch the meter's black lead to the metal coil housing and watch the meter. If the meter's display indicates a value of 2.5 to 5 K ohms, the coil is good. If the meter display shows a "1" or infinity sign, or the display needle jumps to the far right of the scale, then the coil is damaged and must be replaced. We hope this helps!
