The handle broke on my Bosch 3915 miter saw and I need to replace the motor housing. I ordered a new housing and now need to swap or install new brush holders. Can the existing brush holders be removed from the damaged housing or do I need to order new ones?

Hello Swensen,

The brush holders can be taken out of the old housing. But for the life of me I can't remember how they are held in place, they might even be pressed in. Hopefully someone knows more details.

Question: Bosch 3915 Miter Saw

My Bosch 3915 miter saw is burning brushes at an accelerated rate. A lot of arcing at the brush and commutator. Removed armature and took to motor shop. They cleaned up commutator and said armature is ok, but still burns brushes quickly. Any suggestions. Thanks. Robert.

Could be bearings are bad. Check fit in housing and make sure there is no play between bearing and housing.

Also check the brush holders and springs. Make sure brush holders are square and straight.

I have owned this tool for 10 years. It was used daily in a small commercial cabinet shop. Now it travels to the jobsite in and out of the back of a pick-up. Its a little stiff...but still spot on accurate. I use it to cut all the finish material for custom cabinetry installations. the blade guard finally wore out but the rest works perfectly. very well built. I would recommend this tool.
