Question: Sticking Slides
My 1613EVS router has been stubborn almost since new. It will not slide up and down without assistance. It almost seems as if the spring(s) are too light for the job. Add a little dust and it becomes down right difficult. It has been back to Bosch once and frankly was not much better afterward. I have a Sears unit that literally kicks itself up when the lock is released. Are there more powerful springs available or do I have to dismantle the unit and clean the dust out every three months or so. It seems like a hassle to me. I have found that some silicone spray into the boot helps for a while but not a permanent fix. Otherwise the unit is a pleasure to use, good balance of weight and power and not too noisy. The spindle could be a little longer though.
I need to replace the bottom bearing on my 1613evs router. What is the trick for removing the armature to get at the bottom bearing? I have all the screws out and the brushes removed. I'm not sure if I need to tap the base assembly to draw the top bearing and armature out.
I found that the armature comes out by lightly taping the bottom fan housing assembly after all the mentioned parts as well as the plunge base are removed. The armature nut is then a little difficult to remove but with a deep socket and a impact wrench will come off easy. This time I held the armature with a rag and used a 24mm deep socket and wrench. Its more of breaking the nut loose then it is torque. The bearing is then a breeze to change.
Question: Locking Routerin Place On Table
bill r email@example.com
When my 1613EVS is mounted on my router table it no longer stays set to the correct height that I want. I can see the whole router drop down. I can't seem to keep it locked to get a good cut that goes straight across the workpiece with out it dropping. HELP! What is wrong?
Question: Router Collet
I need a 1/4" collet for my Bosch 1613EVS plunge router. Where can I buy one?

Question: Fine Adjustment
My fine adjustment is stuck and will not move either direction it seems frozen.
Reply: Fine Adjustment
I would guess that the plunge rods are packed with saw dust. The dust binds them making it very difficult to adjust. The problem is worse with routers mounted in tables but it can occur even with hand held use. You will need to disassemble the motor from the base and blow out all of the dust around the plunge rods with compressed air. When you go to reassemble the router coat the posts and the adjustment screw with furniture paste wax. Let it dry and then wipe it off. The wax will lubricate the surfaces without attracting more sawdust making the binding worse. Once cleaned and waxed the router should operate well again.
I hope this helps with your repair!
