Question: Next Step To Fix Blade Tightenin...
I have a Bosch 1587vs that will not tighten down on the blade. I replaced the handle assembly per you tube, even though I discovered that the old plastic ratchet parts were not worn or damaged. No problem, the $11 parts cost is a reasonable price for the first step in trouble shooting. However, the problem remains - the tightening lever on the top handle just spins without tightening the blade.
Any suggestions on step 2 to fix this?

There are a few items you can check to see if the are worn:
2602025901 Top Handle Assembly.
2606491014 Coupling Half.
On the above items check the white plastic pieces to make sure they are not worn down.
2603490011 Clamp Screw.
2600780178 Lifting Rod.
On the above items make sure the threads aren't stripped. If the are stripped on the inside of the 2600780178 Lifting Rod, you will need to order the part number 2605808921 Coupling Half, because the Lifting Rod is no longer available individually.
Question: Screw Size
Can you tell me the size of this screw so I can get one at my hardware store? I need it asap.
Reply: Screw Size
Unfortunately the manufacture does not give the size of the screw in the parts diagram. And in speaking with them I couldn't get the specs on it either. If we had one in stock I would gladly get the info you need. You might just take the tool to the hardware store and do a trial and error with the screws they have in there bins.
Son bought me this from a pawn shop and it was missing the upper handle assembly - the shaft and ratchet (162 above) is sticking out the top - so ordering the part... but would sure love to find a manual online so I know how this thing works. It sure runs nicely and I think I'd really like it if I new how to use the features =) Googling but hoping for a hint too! Thanks in advance!
Question: Bosch 1587VS
I bought at a garage sale. Can I get an instruction manual?
Bottom of rod that holds blade is broken, but don't know how it is supposed to work or look, so I don't know what to order. Can you tell me what I need?

Hi Bob, It sounds like you need what Bosch calls the Lifting Rod. It is item #44 on the parts diagram, part #2600780012 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com. You may also want to inspect item #826, part #2602025901 which is the Top Handle Assembly. It has the parts that lock the blades in place and tends to be an item that commonly wears out. Bosch offers downloads of owners manuals on their website. I hope this helps! -UtahAV -Mark
