Discussion for the Black And Decker MM675 Type 1 18" Electric "LAWNHOG&trade" Mulching Mower With Flip-Over Handle
i have a mm675 mower that wont start at all . i dont know if its the switch or brushes .i looked at brushes they seam to be ok so how can i test the electrical connection to the switch and to the motor
I am replacing the switch on an electric lawn mower, and took the old switch off and didn't write down the diagram; does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram?
The electric prong on my MM675 lawnmower needs to be replaced. One of the prongs is loose. Is this worth fixing or am I going to have to trash this Black and Decker 3 year old lawnmower.
I had the blade sharpened and when I replaced it the blade insulator was damaged. I replaced the insulator and tried to cut the grass. Half way through the mower stopped working. The insulator was spinning and damaged. What went wrong?
My mower has started sparking at the brush heads and will not run at full power. I replaced the brushes but it appears the magnet ring is the problem. There appears to be some black soot on the ring itself. Is that an indication that this is the problem? It also gives that telltale, electric burning smell when it runs. I'm not sure I want to spend $70 on a new ring at this point. Time to throw the mower in the dumpster.
My mower cuts out and if I move the power lever around I can get the mower to run again. It seems to be in the switch and I'm not sure if I should buy a complete power switch assembly or just the switch. Will the switch fit on all mowers with the pull power lever on the handle? Thanks.
I have had two of these machines and must say for the money they have served me well enough. However, the switch is the first thing to go on them. I would think by this time Black and Decker would have re-designed a better switch to last as long as the rest of the machine.

I have had two Electric Black and Decker 18" Mulching Mowers in the last 35 years. The switch handle is the only problem I've had, and after 18 years of service, I consider that normal. I wouldn't use any mower except an electric type. I can't imagine breathing the exhaust from a gas power mower for the last 35 years!
The part # listed for your particular tools model number should be correct. The number stamped or printed directly on many replacement parts is often only used by the manufacture. Many times a replacement part is made up of several smaller parts. To the manufacture each of those smaller pieces will also have a part number. It is that number that you usually see stamped on the part.
For the price, this mower was not a good buy. It only lasted 3 years, and in that time I had to replace some of the handle hardware that broke. In the end the motor appears to have burned out. I gave up my electric experiment and bought a gas powered mower. I have never been happier.
