The center tube in the arm assembly of this electric edger has bent along the vent holes and needs to be replaced. I found the part here: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/tube-p-172919.html

I can't find any information, though, on how to replace it, the main power wire runs through that tube and I can't figure out how I'll get the old one off and the new one on. When you get the thing out of the box, it comes in three parts with the cable running through the tubes.

Does anyone have experience replacing this part?

Figured it out myself. A worx driver to remove the six screws in the orange handle and then I can remove the leads from the switch and snake them out of the handle assembly. Once I get the replacement tube i can reconnect and should be good to go.

Man, this tube has to be the THINNEST allowable metal to make this thing work, no wonder it failed; it is paper thin. Guess that's how they keep costs down, definitely not built to last.

Question: LE750 Electric Motor Rotation

1172109

it seems somehow odd to me that the motor on my B&D LE750 rotates counter-clockwise, as does the cutting blade. Is the motor on my LE750 functioning as designed, or is it weird.

thank you

Hello 1172109,

I have an Echo edger that the blade turns in a counter-clockwise rotation. It is that way on most of the edgers I have seen. I wouldn't be concerned with the rotation on your edger.

Question: Rear Wheel Replacement

1161783

How do you get the rear wheel off the LE750 Edger to replace it?
WJA
Reply: Rear Wheel Replacement

WJA

Hello 1161783,

You will have to remove the part number, 239540-05 Hub cap by prying it off carefully with a screw driver. Then you will need to remove the 241658-02 push ring with a screw driver and may be a pair of pliers. Your 598955-00 rear wheel should slide off the shaft. You will probably damage the push ring, so you should order a new one to replace the damaged one.

Question: Edge Hog LE750 Gearcase Cover

The groove in the gearcase cover of my edge hog has worn down to the extent that it will no longer hold the spiral retaining ring. How difficult is it to replace that gearcase cover and what is the general proc for doing so?

Further clarification: the spiral retaining ring holds the curb guide in place.

Hello 1073179,

I presume it is still 7-1/2 inches long. It just the improved blade.

Hope this helps,

skisabe

The moter runs and makes a grinding sound and occasionally the blade will spin . I take it I need a new gearcase assambly
BravoBravo
Question: Repacement Blade

BravoBravo

The old blade had a positive drive lug.
The new blade is relying on friction between the nut and the (2) washers. If the cutting torque exceeds the friction, the blade will slip.

It is on the same sticker that the model number is on, the one between the rear wheels.

Hello,

Question: Replacement Blade

marianne

I ordered the replacement blade for the LE750 Type 2 edger. The original blade was rectangular in shape with a straight edge. The replacement blade is serrated, which isn't a problem, except that it is about an inch and a half longer than the original blade and is a little longer than the guide. Any help here?

I have the same problem but am afraid to put a 7.5 inch blade on where there is now a 5 inch blade. Please tell me if the longer blade is safe and will it work?

Question: Motor Sparks

Dave Thor

Motor overheating.. melted the brushes...ordered replacements installed new ones unit runs but puts out a lot of sparks around brushes.

Is it hopeless

Thanks
WJA
Reply: Motor Sparks

WJA

Hello Dave,
The motor is most likely the problem. It's not hopeless, depending on the type you have. On types 1 and 2 the armature is no longer available. The type number of the unit will be on the nameplate with the model number. Then you can look at the corresponding parts diagram to find the correct part numbers. Then it will be up to you if you want repair it or look at a new purchase.

Good luck,
WJA

Hi Mike,

Unfortunately the Type 1 and Type 3 edgers use a different armature. The Type 3 will not work in the Type 1.

Question: Brush Trouble

Yecart

One of the 2 brush assemblies do not fit secure in the field case. Only 1/2 of the brush rides on the commutator, causing the brush to have a step to it. i have tried and tried to get the brush holder to seat in the correct place and it keeps popping out. I guess the heat from the brush has notched out a place in the field case. According to your website you cannot order a field case. I have no problem trying another set of brushes hoping the assembly will properly seat itself, or am i wasting my money and time trying to fix it? Should i buy another new one??

Question: LE 750 Edge Hog Repair

mikefromtoledo

Just wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem I'm having with my edger. I have a LE750 Black and Decker Edge Hog. I plugged it in the other day to do the edging and it wouldn't start, i tapped on the side of the housing and it started but just slowly turned. I removed the side cover to inspect the brushes and armature. I didn't see anything terribly wrong, but was wondering what exactly i should be looking for. I am guessing maybe the brushes are bad, but looking for a little more direction. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Just borrowed my neighbors edger same model but his is a type 4, and mine is a type 3. Took the brushes out of his and put them in mine and it worked perfect. My brushes were very rounded, but I had no idea they were supposed to be square.
