Hello 1065252,

If you have a local saw sharpening shop in your area, check with them. Quite often saw shops will have the material and equipment to make custom size bandsaw blades.

Hope that helps,

How can I get a manual? It's very new and the smallest blade I've found in altoona is 56. The diagram above seems the same.

A friend of mine picked up two 9422 bandsaws at a yard sale for $15 neither of which had tires. Since everywhere I tried to buy one says it is discontinued, I set out to make my own...I bought a bicycle tier tube and cut it down to width of the wheel, then guesstimated the length (diameter needed) by pulling it around the wheel and cutting it. I glued the ends together with Monster Glue and let it set up for a few hours before installing it. Works great!

What does 6 TPI mean and what does 14 TPI mean and will both of them fit on my Black and Decker 9422?

6 "Teeth Per Inch" It really means how close together are the teeth. Finer teeth cut slower, and have a smoother cut. Larger teeth cut faster and have a rougher cut.

Question: Model 9422

Is the replacement parts list all that is available for the 9422 model type I? I need the wheel marked #38 on this diagram for parts. Is it available or what would be compatible with this part?

Good luck with that. I'm looking for the same part. I left the saw in the shed in Arizona for a while and the belt dry-rotted and broke into 5 pieces and without it the saw is useless. Please do me a favor and if you have any luck finding the part let me know at link removed but in the mean time friction tape wound in reverse is a temporary fix.
Good Luck, Rich

I had the same problem. My solution was to take the wheel to my local auto parts store and I tried a number of flat belts until I found one that fit. Works great!
Happy hunting!

I am going to order a Delta tire # 419-96-094-0002 the size of this tire is 1/8" x 1" x 7.5" and the one on the Black & Decker Band Saw measures 1/8" x .75 x 7.50".

One of the Pastor's at my Church had bought two tires for his Delta Band Saw and I compared the Delta tire to the old broken cracked and split old Black and Decker tire and it was the same, with the only difference being in the width, so I will warm the tire in hot water before putting on the Black and Decker Band Saw and put it in place and then take a break-point knife or single edged razor blade and cut off the excess.

I even contemplated taking some overshoe soling material and making a tire for this 'old' #9422 Black & Decker Band Saw. I would have glued the overshoe soling material to the drive wheel and I would have guaranteed that overshoe soling material (medium weight) would have never worn out.

I hope that this information will assists some others and reduce the frustration that is involved in finding the 'tire' for the #9422.

May God 'bless' you and yours always!

I have given way to desperation with the broken tire problem on my 9422 band saw. I cut a 3/4 inch wide band from an old inner tube and stretched it (inside out) over the lower wheel. I re-installed the blade, turned it on, fiddled with the tracking adjustment and eureka!. My saw is working again. I don't know how long it will last, but when this one breaks or wears out I have the rest of the inner tube with enough rubber for about 40 more bands.

Question: Band Saw Motor

Steve Hicks

My band saw seems to have retired today. I believe I can save it if I can purchase a new motor assembly. Given all of the item/part numbers in the diagram, would I have to order all of the individual parts or could I purchase a complete replacement motor?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Steve,

You would need to replace the motor components individually. Usually you would need the armature, maybe the field, motor brushes and bearings. Unfortunately it looks like the manufacture no longer can provide most of the parts for your tool.

I hope this helps with your repair.

Clean the commutator until it looks coppery again. This usually will revive the motor. If the brushes look worn out then try replacing them.
