Discussion for the Black And Decker 1551 Type 1 Drill Press
I have a B&D magnetic base drill press model #1551. The magnet is weak and will not hold the press in place. I am not sure what to check, could use some help.
Hey mtabor,
The first thing to check is the voltage going to the magnet..[with a test meter]..it should be 115 volts..if your not getting a voltage supply..work your way back to trouble shoot your switch's..check all your connections and try to isolate the problem..if you have the correct voltage going to the magnet and it still wont hold.. the magnet connections or wiring is damaged in some way...this is a real old one and the electronic components are no longer available..but sometimes a good repair shop can get ya fixed up..
hope this helps?:)
