Replaced handle, broken knobs, bolts and spring

Removed all of the parts from the existing upper handle, removed the broken knobs from the bolts and remove the old handle. Installed the new upper handle with the new knobs and bolts. To replace the spring start the pivot pin in the mulch cover, and place the spring in the mulch cover, Then start the pin thru the bracket on the mower deck. Keep pressure on the spring and hook the end of it to the indent on the mulch cover, then push the pin thru the other end of the bracket, and place the push caps on the ends of the pin.

Chewing up belt and not cutting even.

I took off decking and spray some penetrating oil on the nut and let it sit for little while came right off.put new parts on works great.and before I put decking back on I greased the bearings its a lot easier.

The mower deck hangers were "jerry-rigged" and I couldn't raise the mowing deck more the a few inches off the ground

So the lawn tractor is a 2004 Murray 42 inch with 17.5 hp Briggs engine. The deck hanger mechanism uses a special pin bolt which I was fortunate to find at E-replacement parts. I received the order which included the plastic butterfly knobs for adjusting the height. so after removing the wrong parts I jacked up the mower deck to a height that I wanted to use as a maximum. Then I installed the new hanger assembly and tightened the knobs.
The height can be set at a variety of heights due to an elongated slot in the mechanism.

Spring for turning on cutting blades broke. Used pliers to attach. Remover cleaner housing and dropped in new cleaner.

Used pliers to stretch spring and attach. Used screw driver to remove air cleaner cap, removed old cleaner and installed new one.

Mower needed some TLC

Replaced the air filter as I do annually. Simple maintenance! The primer bulb was cracked after 12 years of use and making starting/restarting difficult, and replaced it. Had to remove the bulb housing assembly from carb to make the repair. Piece of cake. Wing knob was worn from the rope rubbing on it, my fault for not noticing. Easy replacement!

Had a wing nut that had been worn by the rope starter and the nylon pulley had also been worn.

Replace wing nut.
Removed old nylon pulley and flange bushing and replaced with new parts.
