V-belt 5140010-28

I had to pull the old pulley, file some rough marks from the shaft, install the new key and retainer nut, then install the new belt.. This required removing the chain that drives the feed rollers first.
The whole process took less than 30 minutes and was easily accomplished. The most challenging part was getting the new belt to stretch enough to fit over the new pulley and align properly with the drive pulley on the motor.

Take cover off, front &back. Lift up and then take the four bolts out from the bottom of the motor,lift motor up and off the pins holding it in place,slide back Take belt off and replace with new belt. Now, with a pry bar and a block of wood, pry the bottom of the motor back until it drops down over the two pins that holds it in place. Put the four screws back in and tighten,be careful the knives are sharp. Put back together and test. Have fun!!!!

All pretty straightforward except for fitting the new belt to the pulleys. the only way I found after a lot of frustration is to put the belt on the little pulley, edge the belt on to the big pulley with a screwdriver, and then turn the big pulley with a socket while keeping the screwdriver in place (holding the belt) with the screwdriver angled out from the pulley. took

1. Remove top cover
2. Remove crank handle
3. Remove side cover
4. Remove chain tensioner
5. Remove chain drive with sprocket.
6. Remove large round belt drum and install belt to small round drum, than to install belt to large round drum, reinstall items.

Belt replacement was a bear. Ended up removing the larger of the two wheels, aligning the belt on the wheel, then using a pipe wrench to pull it over the shaft. Once over the shaft I tapped it down with a rubber mallet. Incredibly tight fit! After assembly I tried planing and again tripped the breaker. I didn't think my blades were that terribly worn, but after putting in the new ones the whole unit works like a charm again.

Follow the video you had. The only problem was getting the belt on the big pulley Had to use a long pointed chisel I had for leverage and inserting it at the center of the pulley. Took me 4 or 5 times to get the belt on there. The planer now works just like new.

I simply ordered the nut from ereplacement parts.com and patiently waited for it to come in the mail. I also replaced the chewed up drive belt after installing the new pulley retaining nut. I used the lug wrench to assist turning the pulley while coaxing the drive belt on. That part was a bit more challenging! You just work the belt on a little at a time while rotating the bigger pulley with the lug wrench. You can also use correct socket and drive wrench.

1. Removed the cover from the top and from the side to get to the drive belt and chain drives
2. Removed the tensioning spring unit and removed one of the chain sprockets and then the chain
3. Removed old belt and large lower pulley. To remove drive pulley, place a wooden wedge into the planer knives so bolt can be loosened and removed with pulley.
4. Put belt onto smaller upper pulley
5. Put new belt on pulley that was removed and forced pulley with new belt into position with a screwdriver. This was the only hard part of the belt replacement as the belt fits really tight and I could not get it onto the pulley with the pulley in position. Heating the rubber belt in hot water helped although.
6. Put everything back in reverse order

I had to loosen the motor to get the belt on. The biggest problems was reconnection the motor to the frame. I had to use a clamp to pull the motor back in place and then reinsert the screws.

Disassembled down to the drive motor and unbolted motor to get the new belt on . Be careful , the 4 bolts that hold the motor in place will strip out very easy. Warm the belt so that it will stretch and have a set of extra hands to get the screw back in.
