*These instructions presume there is still some liquid fuel in the tank as it is not possible to fully drain the tank due to a recessed fill tube. Be careful to keep tank oriented with the valve upright to avoid spilling fuel during the repair. Take precautions to clean any spilled fuel and remove any source of ignition from the work area. Ground yourself to a light switch or metal appliance to discharge any static as this could also ignite fuel vapors. Have a fire extinguisher near by that is in good working order before beginning the repair.
1. Vent vapor pressure from fuel tank and clean any dirt or debris from the tank.
2. Clean thoroughly around thread fitting where the valve assembly enters the tank.
3. Use the adjustable wrench to turn the old valve assembly counterclockwise two full turns.
4. Clean any loosened factory pipe dope from valve fitting before further removing from tank.
5. Carefully clean any remaining pipe dope from internal threads of tank after removing valve.
6. Install two wraps of new thread seal tape onto new valve threads in a clockwise direction.
7. Install valve assembly into tank until snug then an additional turn to orient the generator.
8. Lightly close valve knob, tank cap, and pump 35 full strokes of air into the tank.
9. Invert tank and carefully observe for 5 minutes to ensure there are no fuel leaks.
10. Release pressure and store tank and range as per manufacturer instructions.
