Remove cover with phillips head screwdriver, unplug the defective thermal protector and plugged in the replacement. Replace the cover and you are all done. Very simple to replace and I didn't have any more problems.

Screwdriver, Pliers, Adjustable Wrench

Take out the screws at the bottom of the cover both sides. Then pull the cover off where it pivots on both sides. Replace the Thermal Protector and reinstall the cover.

erratic operation of thermal circuit breaker

1. Removed compressor cover

2. Replaced Reset Button with new unit.

3. Cleaned accessed area.

4. Re-installed cover.

5. New reset button restored consistent operation.
