  • Replacement part for an older bathroom heater
We were so happy to find this older replacement part for my 97-year-old mother's bathroom heater vs. having to buy a new one; that may or may not have covered the existing ceiling space. Therefore, perhaps requiring sheet rock repairs. This part saved us a bundle.

    Correct part poor shipping
I paid extra for 2-3 day shipping. for some unknown reason it took over 4 days for the part to get to their local post office? USPS did a great job and had me the part in 2 days once they received it. Because of the delayed shipment I had to make an extra trip to go back to the previous job site I moved on from. The fuse fit and worked as expected.

Unit was not heating. I bypassed the thermal cutoff switch with a jumper wire and the unit ran and produced heat, so I knew the thermal cutoff switch was bad.

Make sure the light, exhaust fan, and heater are turned off at the wall switch. I removed the cover from the unit. It is held in place by one acorn nut, 3/8” if I remember correctly. Then for easier working access, I unplugged the light assembly and laid it to one side. Unplug the heater/blower motor assembly. The heater/blower motor assembly is held in place by two screws that must be loosened with a flathead screwdriver. The holes for the screws are slotted, so the screws do not have to be removed, only loosened enough to allow the unit to be pulled down and out over the heads of the screws. Access to the thermal cutoff is gained by removing two screws (1/4” nut driver) that hold the cover on. Two nuts must be removed to take the old cutoff switch out. I don’t remember the size of the nuts but a flathead screwdriver has to be used to keep the machine screw upon which the nuts are mounted from turning when the nuts are removed. Replace the old switch with the new one, reverse the process to put everything back together, and snap in the new lens cover. If you want to check to make sure the heater/blower assembly is working after you have replaced the thermal cutoff switch but before reassembling everything, you can plug the heater/blower assembly into any wall outlet. Just be careful not to place the unit on anything that could be damaged by heat and be careful not to burn your hands while testing it.
