It also prevents thin slices of wood from jamming in between the blade and the plate. This part is made out of plastic material and it is sold individually. Screws that attach this insert are sold separately.

, Had to cut the middle of the insert so the blade could pass.
Parts Used
1. Laid the insert into the base.
2. Measured the blade length and width.
3. Used a special machine to cut a slot
4. They don't make the insert for my saw.
