This OEM gray plastic door striker, or door lock, ensures the door of your washer remains securely closed during operation. It is located on the washer body, opposite the door hinge. A broken door striker can cause issues such as difficulty in closing the door properly or the door popping open during a wash cycle. It is important to also inspect the actuator for damage if your washer fails to start. A damaged actuator can prevent the washer from turning on and engaging the door latch. To remove the door strike, open the door and use a Phillips screwdriver to unthread the two securing screws. If you find that the tip of the door strike is missing, it is likely broken off and stuck inside the door latch assembly. If you are unable to remove it, you will need to replace the entire door latch. When installing the new door strike, make sure to align the notch and tab for a proper fit in one direction. Secure it in place using the two Phillips screws. Please note that this replacement part does not include any hardware.
