The repair was relatively easy to install the new supporter and th straight bevel gear on the opposite side of the planer.
The tricky process was the get the two sides in line so the planer would plane a board equally from left to right. I used a caliper to measure the distance between theta of the housing and the floor of the plate.
If my measurements had not been accurate I would have to start over removing the covers and readjusting the level. But I was able to get it right on the first attempt.
