This genuine OEM steel ball is found within the housing of your power tool. It serves as a detent mechanism, securing the shift knob in various positions to allow for the selection of different operating modes. It has a diameter of 4.8mm. If you notice signs of wear or deformation on the steel ball, it is a clear indication that it needs to be replaced. A worn-out steel ball can result in a loose shift knob that fails to hold its selected position properly. Lost ball bearing when shot off. Amazingly found the very small spring and other parts with a magnet. Looked at the parts sheet and how it was put together and it was fairly easy. I replaced the screw that holds everything together.
