The starter pawl was missing one of the rubber flippers
Since I had to remove the starter assembly on a 9yr trimmer to replace the pawl, I figured it would be a good idea to replace it along with the pawl. The installation went as planned. Installed the pawl and starter assembly. I've used it twice since and it works fine.

Question: Husqvarna Weedeater HELP

1280071

I recently ordered, and just received, a replacement starter for my Husqvarna Weedeater. When it arrived it was covered all over with a greasy substance. This is my first time trying to repair something like this on my own. Just wondering if this grease is normal and necessary or did I receive a defective product? Any help would be greatly appreciated as the longer I take to fix my weedeater the more treacherous the jungle in my yard becomes . Thanks!
WJA
Hello 1280071,

If it was the the part number 579063101 Starter Assembly, that you received. I just inspected our stock of the Starter Assemblies. It does look like the manufacture did over lube the inside of a few of them and some did get on the outside of a few. Go ahead and wipe the outside of the assembly clean and leave the grease on the inside. And you should be good to go.

    Perfect Fit for my Husqvarna
This was a very simple fix for a broken, rope retraction system. Unscrew two bolts, change out parts, reattach...no more than 4 minutes and all done. Trimmer is working great...may get another 7 years if lucky!

    Works so far!
It Took about a week to arrive and due to the usps it was a day late but overall the part went right on the Husqvarna trimmer and it started right up. That’s all I needed and the price was right. Part did ship within a day of ordering. If you need it quicker you’ll have to pay for expedited shipping.
