Remove two retaining bolts from the bearing and slide the steering shaft upward so you can see the retaining snap ring.
Remove the snap-ring that retains the steering gear and bearing to the shaft.
Remove and replace the worn out bearing.
Reassemble in reverse order.
To replace the spring. Jack the rear wheels of the lawnmower about 8" off of the ground (use jack stands for safety) and you will have enough room to replace the spring without removing the mower deck.
