Product Description ?

This is a genuine manufacturer-sourced part that is specially made for Makita drills. It is an identical replacement for a missing or a faulty hardware that was installed on a new unit. Please make sure to refer to the appropriate diagrams of your model for the exact location and application of this part. Keep in mind this high-quality spiral bevel gear is made of durable metal and is sold individually. Some older Makita DA3000R drills have used different gears which have been discontinued. NOTE: This 24-tooth spiral bevel gear (Fig #19) must correspond to a 7-tooth spiral bevel gear (Fig #4) in order to operate properly. If the corresponding gear in your drill does not have 7 teeth, you must also purchase a new corresponding gear. The 7-tooth corresponding gear (fig #4) can be purchased online #226751-9 Spiral Bevel Gear (7 Tooth).

new design gear fits, changes to press fit
This part, along with matching pinion, was used to repair old-style angle drill. The combination fits well and offers thicker/stronger teeth than original. The pinion is a direct fit replacement. This gear changes the original pin drive to press fit. The bore is 0.002" smaller than the original gear, requiring more push to drive home. (and the pin is not used.) No-load test run after reassembly ran smooth so I am happy to have my beloved drill back in business.

Broken teeth on bevel gear, damaged pinion gear

    Tool Type

    Electric Drill

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    30-60 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Hydraulic press, bearing splitter

Used bearing splitter and hydraulic press to press off bearings of pinion shaft and main chuck shaft. Used bearing splitter to remove bevel gear off of main chuck shaft. Do reverse process to assemble components, "Note" no keyway on new bevel gear so press fit only, still took about 2 tons pressure to install so will have plenty of hold power. Put bearings back on pinion shaft, lube both gears and assemble gears in case.
